In 2017, Ernst & Young named Phyllis Newhouse the National Technology Entrepreneur of the Year. A military veteran, Newhouse was honored for her efforts in developing and deploying technology-based defense strategies to cybersecurity threats through her company Xtreme Solutions. A founder of the Cyber Espionage Task Force at the Pentagon while in the military, she built her company by utilizing the experience and skills she developed while serving her country.
Though Newhouse had no entrepreneurial experience when she founded Xtreme, the gamble paid off. Currently, the company employs workers in 42 states and generates millions of dollars in revenue.
